Ubisoft may have a monster hit on their hands, if this keeps up.
Ubisoft’s The Division launched in a blaze of publicity and hype, but initial issues with it, including a lack of content, led to a lot of that buzz dying down. However, in the background, Ubisoft Massive have been working on it silently, leading to a turnaround of incredible proportions. The Division is now a fantastic game, leading to hype for The Division 2, due to launch next year.
How much hype is there for it? Well, apparently, a lot. Ubisoft has confirmed in a financial call today that The Division 2 has set a company record, with more beta registrations for it than for any other game in their history. The previous record-holder that it had to beat to claim this mantle? Why, none other than the original The Division.
The Division 2 beta has over four times the amount of registrations that the original game’s beta managed, which is insane by any measure. If Ubisoft can translate this into sales at launch, then they will have a massive hit on their hands. Destiny 2 better watch out.
